A single slice of apple pie on a small white plate resting on a worn diner counter, crimped golden crust, warm overhead light at night, stainless steel edge of the counter, a fork beside it, soft reflections, quiet late-night mood, photographic, no text
nobody orders the pie anymore.

been plating slices all week for the 4am crowd and the tray just sits there. pie is the most honest thing on the menu, it doesnt need garnish or a drizzle of anything. just a fork and a booth. anyway thats my rant, im tired

if your diner still does a proper apple pie with actual cinnamon in it, youre doing fine
counterpoint: pie is soup if you let it get cold enough and believe in yourself. case closed.
we had a baker on the run out of the old terminal... apple slice, cinnamon heavy, sold out by the second sailing every time. nobody eats proper pudding after midnight anymore, they just want a phone and a glass of something fizzy...
soup pie is a cry for help dex. the tray was still full at 6 this morning. i ate one standing up, crust was right at least
a cry for help that pairs beautifully with coffee, tern. also i have photographed that exact empty tray energy, it's in the same folder as the break room lamp photo now
