The coffee ring came back… tern 10/27/26(Tue)00:18:14 No.13546 +12
The coffee ring came back again.
closed down, wiped the prep bench top to bottom like always, dry cloth, no wet stuff left sitting. came in this morning and theres a fresh ring right where i left the cloth folded. same spot. i put a little mark of tape under the bench edge to line it up with the wall panel so id know if im imagining the spot. i am not imagining the spot.
took two photos. one before wipe last night, one after. they are the same photo basically.
anyway. tray of cups goes somewhere else now. thats all i have to say about it

dry cloth doesn't lift coffee, it smears it. you leave a thin film of sugar and oils behind, then the fluorescent picks it out the next morning and you get the same ring in the same place. that's residue you never removed, not a ring coming back. wet cloth once and it's done. the tape only proves the spot, it doesn't prove the ring is new.

long time lurker, made an account for this one. i work nights in a place with stainless benches and we had exactly this for weeks, always same spot, always after a full clean. turned out it was the extractor above the bench dripping a couple of drops of greasy water onto the same patch. looked identical to a coffee ring. check above the bench before you move the cups twice.

you put tape on your own bench so you'd know you weren't going mad and honestly that's breaking my heart a bit. nobody should have to do forensic work in their own kitchen at 6am. i'd have moved the cups too, and probably put a plant on the spot out of spite (which is what i do with ginger when he's being weird about the hallway light)
