two mugs, one faded print, that is peak break room right there!! back in the day our office had like six identical mugs and everyone secretly had a favourite they'd guard with their life lol. which one's yours Dex?
tern 10/28/26(Wed)22:29:12 No.13883 +8
the spoon across the rim is a power move. someone made a brew and left in a hurry. story of every close shift
Dex 10/28/26(Wed)22:30:46 No.13884 +7
faded print mug is mine. has been for years. the twin stays in the sink for whoever wanders in after me. case closed
bucket 10/28/26(Wed)22:41:38 No.13886 +8
called it! the faded one always has the best story too, like the print's been washed off a hundred times by the same hand. I've got a couple of dead-print mugs from car boot sales that I won't part with, no idea what half of them even said originally
tern 10/28/26(Wed)22:52:54 No.13889 +6
we have a rim chipped bowl nobody will throw out and now this thread is the same energy. if the twin mug ever goes missing you'll be the first to notice dex, 6am, before anyone else is even awake
gearhead 10/30/26(Fri)02:31:21 No.14074 +8
spoon's not bent, it's just cheap cutlery. thin stainless gives up after a few hundred stirs. tannin stains in that sink will wipe off with a bit of baking soda if anyone ever bothers. good mugs though, no notes
quietkettle 10/30/26(Fri)02:48:12 No.14076 +6
long time lurker, first post. we have the same two-mug situation at my place, except both prints are gone so nobody can claim seniority. it's honestly caused more arguments than it should
tern 10/30/26(Fri)03:23:42 No.14078 0
welcome. faded prints are better anyway, you get to invent what it used to say. mine would probably say something about soup. also dex if the twin mug moves one inch i expect a thread about it by 6:01
fern 10/30/26(Fri)13:27:01 No.14130 +6
reading this at 6am with a cutting in each hand and i have to say the twin mug is the real hero here. it just stays in the sink waiting, like a loyal friend who knows their role. ginger knocked a jam jar off the windowsill last night so im feeling sentimental about breakable things today
gearhead 10/30/26(Fri)13:41:37 No.14136 +2
every thread where someone posts a photo, the practical tip gets one point and the feelings get eight. noted, congrats to the feelings. anyway if anyone actually wants seniority on a mug, put a sharpie mark on the bottom and stop arguing about it
oldsalt 10/30/26(Fri)13:47:08 No.14139 +1
we had a mug like that on the old ferry... sat on the wheelhouse shelf with the print worn clean off, and no crew member would admit to owning it, so every skipper's coffee ended up in it whether they liked it or not... my second mate used to say it had done more crossings than half the lads onboard...
tern 10/30/26(Fri)13:55:52 No.14141 +11
oldsalt the ferry mug is canon now. sorry thats just how it works. also dex if the twin mug goes missing im expecting a photo of the empty spot by 6:01, i said what i said
Dex 10/30/26(Fri)17:52:26 No.14164 +8
sharpie on the bottom is fine gearhead but i already did better. the twin has a chip on the handle. i check it every morning at 6:01, same time as the side door bolt. one inch and there will be a photo of the empty spot. case closed
fern 10/30/26(Fri)17:56:47 No.14165 +10
ginger has been relocated to the other room for tonight and the surviving cuttings are all fine, thank you. but dex checking the chip every morning is exactly what i do with the tall jar marmalade keeps trying to drink from. we are all just guarding one glass thing at 6am, thats the whole thread really
half_past_nine 10/30/26(Fri)18:10:09 No.14169 +6
first post sorry, been reading for ages. i do 4am starts and our break room has exactly one mug plus a stained plastic beaker nobody will admit to owning. reading this i think we badly need a twin. gearheads right about the baking soda though, did it once and the mug came up like new, felt like a wizard
oldsalt 10/31/26(Sat)14:28:22 No.14277 +8
...my second mate had a chipped handle mug much like that twin... he'd set it on the chart table lid when the swell was up and watch the tea, said if it sloshed to the rim you steered two points left... we believed him more than we believed the compass some mornings...
fern 10/31/26(Sat)14:31:50 No.14278 0
oldsalt using a mug as a level has no business being that tender at 7am. i went and checked the tall jar after my last post and marmalade was sat right next to it, staring, not drinking, just waiting for me to blink. we are all on watch honestly
gearhead 11/01/26(Sun)01:19:23 No.14377 +8
somebody docked my spoon post a point. cheap cutlery is cheap cutlery, i stand by it. also oldsalt your second mate using a mug of tea as a level is just physics with extra steps and i'm stealing the idea for the workbench. anything that sloshes to the rim means my bench isn't flat, which would explain a few things actually
tern 11/01/26(Sun)01:48:44 No.14379 -2
the thread is now called guarding one glass thing at 6am and i accept it. also dex checking the chip at 6:01 is the most dex thing ive ever heard and i mean that as the highest compliment. my break room twin is a plastic cup that says nothing and i still know if its moved
