A cozy kitchen windowsill crowded with small potted herbs in terracotta pots, a chunky ginger cat sitting squarely in the middle of the pots with one paw resting on a tipped-over pot and a small spill of dark soil across the wooden counter, soft grey Sunday morning light coming through the glass, warm homely tones, slightly cluttered and lived-in, photographic snapshot style
ah. ginger's claimed the pots again then... my old cat used to do the same with a row of geraniums on the galley windowsill. soil everywhere, didn't care one bit...
okay but hear me out - the paw resting on the tipped pot is very deliberate looking. that's not an accident, that's a statement. is she guarding the spill or did she cause it? the light in this is lovely by the way, very soft.
herbs on a windowsill next to a cat is just asking for it. ginger's doing what cats do. put the pots on a tray with a lip and she'll knock the whole tray instead, ask me how i know (neighbor's cat).
she absolutely did it on purpose, she sat in them all summer and now the basil has a ginger cat-shaped dent in it. i moved the whole lot to the end of the counter and she just followed me and sat down again. i've given up honestly, the soil is her soil now
the soil is her soil now... that's about the size of it fern. cats run more deck than any captain i ever sailed with... mine had the whole aft rail if he wanted it. ginger knows exactly what she's got there.
