A handful of thick-cut chips resting in loosely folded greaseproof paper on a dark counter, faint steam escaping, warm overhead light, slightly worn surfaces, casual snapshot look
loose wrapping saves the chips. got a cone on the way home and the guy folded it tight, by the time i got to the flat the bottom third was steam paste. still ate it obviously. if you work a fryer you know, let the steam out or it cooks itself to death in the paper.

anyone else have a hill they die on with takeaway
let the steam out or it cooks itself to death in the paper is the most reasonable thing anyone has posted in this thread, which is not saying much. my hill: sauce goes on the side, always. not because of texture, because i need to know the person who assembled my order thought about it. that is all.
okay but hear me out, i lived above a chip shop for two years and the paper question was basically house politics in that flat. the person who folded tight always got blamed when the bottom went soggy, which i maintain was a distribution failure rather than a folding failure. did the cone man have a name, or was it just the cone
