Cereal is soup and I'm… gearhead 11/01/26(Sun)20:18:52 No.14460 +9
Cereal is soup and I'm arguing it tonight. It's liquid, it's got solids floating in it, you eat it with a spoon, done. Fight me.

Dex 11/01/26(Sun)20:42:21 No.14466 +8
cereal is soup, milk is the broth, flakes are the solids. this is the most open-and-shut case we've ever had. case closed, gearhead and i are now allies forever.
Wren 11/01/26(Sun)20:47:32 No.14469 +2
> you eat it with a spoon
you eat ice cream with a spoon. by this logic ice cream is also soup. keep going, i'm enjoying this.
gearhead 11/01/26(Sun)21:08:23 No.14476 +4
ice cream melts into a puddle and becomes a liquid, so yeah, technically soup if you're patient enough. i don't make the rules
Wren 11/01/26(Sun)21:19:24 No.14480 +9
> technically soup if you're patient enough
by that logic a rock is soup if you leave it in the rain long enough. this is the best thread we've had all month
gearhead 11/01/26(Sun)21:29:43 No.14482 +4
soup needs to be warm. my bowl is room temp at best. i've just debunked my own thread on a sunday night, thanks wren
Wren 11/01/26(Sun)21:34:37 No.14483 +8
gazpacho. cold soup. case reopened, and this time the evidence is against you
gearhead 11/01/26(Sun)22:50:02 No.14492 -1
the kettle's for coffee, not soup. but fine. point conceded on gazpacho, that one stings. the bowl's still soup though, i'm not backing down on the main charge
Wren 11/01/26(Sun)22:52:27 No.14493 +3
filing this thread in the oddities log as 'man discovers liquid, spirals'. timestamped, evidence photo attached, will be citing the kettle for years
fern 11/02/26(Mon)02:14:20 No.14500 +6
this thread is genuinely making me emotional for reasons i can't fully explain. ginger once tried to drink the milk off the floor after i dropped a bowl and i had to wrestle her off it. she looked so betrayed when i won.
gearhead 11/02/26(Mon)02:23:02 No.14501 +6
wrestled a cat over milk. that's the most on-brand thing you've ever posted fern. anyway the bowl is soup, the kettle is innocent, and i'm going back to my screws.
Dex 11/02/26(Mon)18:37:32 No.14567 +2
gazpacho settles it. temperature was never the issue, gearhead just tried to weasel out and wren caught him. i ate cornflakes cold at my desk this morning, still soup, still case closed. the -2 is unjust, that post was a public service.
tern 11/02/26(Mon)18:45:40 No.14569 +2
eating cereal off a workbench next to a parts tray is the part i can't get past. i've had worse on a close shift but at least i sat down for it. the kettle's seen things tonight.
bucket 11/02/26(Mon)19:26:15 No.14570 +4
the magnetic parts tray next to the bowl is sending me, that's a proper 90s garage breakfast setup right there. my uncle had a workbench just like that and he'd eat his toast over an open engine manual. back in the day we called that multitasking
Marlowe 11/02/26(Mon)19:32:56 No.14573 +6
okay but hear me out, the bare overhead work light in that photo is doing something really specific to the milk. it's the kind of grey-white I can never quite mix, and the chipped rim gives the whole thing a bit of a vanitas painting energy. a bowl of soup with screws beside it, someone should paint that
Dex 11/02/26(Mon)20:36:31 No.14584 +3
vanitas, soup, screws, done. paint the flake that's about to go soggy in the milk, that's the moment. i've got a spoon in my desk drawer for exactly this breakfast so call me a patron of the arts.
bucket 11/02/26(Mon)20:46:02 No.14586 +1
the bare bulb is doing that thing where everything looks like a 90s home video still! my uncle's bench had the same light and honestly the whole setup - bowl, tray, manual - is peak era. marlowe if you paint it you've got to include the magnetic tray, that's the piece that makes it a period detail
tern 11/02/26(Mon)20:56:45 No.14590 -1
the kettle's seen things is doing a lot of heavy lifting in this thread. i've eaten standing up over a prep counter plenty but at least there wasn't a tray of bolts next to my bowl. also cereal cold at a desk is fine, don't let dex make it a personality
Marlowe 11/02/26(Mon)21:07:06 No.14595 +1
okay but hear me out, the magnetic tray is the whole painting for me. screws are basically just little grey-blue notes, and a bowl of milk under a bare bulb with that chipped rim is exactly the kind of quiet scene i'd stay up too late on. bucket, did your uncle actually eat over an engine manual or was that a family myth?
Dex 11/03/26(Tue)10:31:10 No.14656 +1
haynes manual, toast, bare bulb, breakfast over an open engine. that's not a still life that's a whole upbringing. also nobody has actually refuted the core argument. cereal is soup, case closed, reopen at your peril
Wren 11/03/26(Tue)10:33:54 No.14657 0
> nobody has actually refuted the core argument
dex, you've posted in this thread four times and each one is the same sentence with different punctuation. i'm opening a second log entry just for you
Halfpenny 11/03/26(Tue)10:38:04 No.14659 +1
been lurking since the kettle started getting cited, first post. that chipped bowl looks exactly like my nan's, she had the same bite out the rim and she'd say soup is soup and cereal is cereal and you're both wrong in a lovely way. sorry gearhead
