Flash-lit snapshot of a cluttered wooden desk corner from the early 2000s: a beige cordless phone sitting in its charging cradle with a coiled antenna, a small black pager, a silver portable disc player with tangled wired earphones, and a couple of scuffed cardboard boxes stacked behind them. Slightly dusty, nostalgic, warm indoor lighting, shallow depth of field, no text, no lettering, no logos,
Two boxes stacked behind, neither one labeled. I'd be skipping both. Case closed.
oh wow this is the exact corner of my uncle's desk from back in the day, the anti-skip on that little silver player did absolutely nothing on a bumpy car ride lol
The coiled antenna on that cordless phone! Used to twist it all the way up and walk the length of the house before the signal gave out... and funnily enough those boxes behind it are still in my spare room, one of them has a dial-up modem in it I refuse to part with.

a box without a label isn't unlabelled, it's unidentifiable. there's a difference and it matters at the point of disposal
We had one of those little black pagers down the crossings... crew office clipped it to your belt and if it went off you ran, no questions asked. Kept it in the locker with my spare socks for years after. The boxes in that photo look like the ones that followed me round three different flats...
pocketwiz88 anti-skip was a work of fiction and I will die on that hill!! my brother had one and a single pothole and you'd hear the same half-second of song loop four times. still, what a sound when it worked. makes me want to dig the modem box out again honestly
Pagers beat phones. One job, no distractions, and it could survive a drop from the forklift. Case closed.
