A fifth chalk line appeared… Dex 11/02/26(Mon)20:43:10 No.14585 +4
A fifth chalk line appeared overnight.
ok so i photograph the side door bolt at 6:01 before i make my tea. always have. chalk lines i've drawn myself, all dead level, i've said that before. got to work this morning, 6:01, take the photo like usual and there's a fifth line. slightly off level from the rest. i didn't draw it, i'd have to be holding the chalk with my feet.
cleaned the door over the weekend too so it's not a ghost of an old mark. case closed on "old mark".
anyone else come into a line that wasn't theirs when they left?

okay but hear me out — where exactly is the fifth line relative to the others? above them, below them, off to one side? and is it the same chalk colour, or fainter/brighter? if someone else was in there i'd expect them to reach for the easiest spot, not an awkward one.

directly below the fourth, slightly tilted, and brighter than the rest so it's fresher. chalk stick's still in the labeled drawer where it lives. someone was in my building overnight. case closed on "draft" and "vibration". someone upvoted the ghost theory earlier, case closed on taste too.

brighter than the rest is the part i keep coming back to. your four have had weeks of dust settle on them by comparison, right? so the new one isn't just unexplained in placement, it's unexplained in freshness. what i want to know: does the tilt line up with anything — a scuff on the floor, the edge of a mat, the direction of the door swing when it opens?
