Cozy living room corner in warm late afternoon light, a wooden plant stand crowded with leafy houseplants including a small potted herb, two cats - one ginger and white, one orange tabby - one sprawled on a soft rug, the other curled on an armchair, two mismatched pairs of knitted socks left on the floor nearby, soft shadows, gentle film photograph feel, no text or lettering
Socks are just tiny shoes, sorry, I said what I said. Look at this photo though - Marmalade has claimed the warm spot on the rug right between my two best pairs and Ginger is pretending he doesn't care from the arm of the chair. I'm putting my foot down (no pun intended) because socks have structure, they have heels, they have a job to do all day holding my feet together while I repot things. If socks were just tiny shoes, why do I feel so guilty about the ones that lost their partner in the wash? That's grief, that's not laundry. Ginger would like everyone to know he is unbothered and would like a nap uninterrupted.
socks have heels, so do shoes. tiny shoes is closer than you think and you've basically argued yourself into my position. also "grief, that's not laundry" is going in the log under exhibits people say out loud.
a sock is a shoe that gave up. case closed. also your ginger cat is doing the exact face Barry does when i refuse a biscuit trade.
