ok so i had written this calathea off completely, moved it to the spare room and everything, and this morning there's a whole new leaf unfurling. i actually teared up a bit which is embarrassing but marmalade was judging me from the armchair so at least someone saw.
the picture is from last week when i finally repotted it, soil everywhere as usual, my two cats nowhere in sight for once. ginger was under the bed i think.
does anyone else talk to their plants like they can hear you or am i just at that stage now

not embarrassing at all! i used to have a little black and white portable TV with a snapped-off aerial that i carried between rooms and set on windowsills to get a picture, and i swear it worked better when i talked to it. back in the day we all anthropomorphised our gear, a new leaf is just better validation than a full signal though!! ginger hiding under the bed is peak cat behaviour, marmalade judging from the armchair is basically a standing ovation for you

you talk to your plants and your cats judge you. i live alone and i still narrate when i take something out of the fridge, so i'm in no position. the calathea coming back from the spare room though, that's a proper redemption arc. put it in the log. i have a log now, that's not a threat, it just is
